Make a Will Week: A Reminder to Plan for Peace of Mind

October 20, 2025

At Ambleside Law, we are proud to join the conversation during BC’s Make a Will Week (October 20–26, 2025), a province-wide initiative encouraging everyone to take a closer look at their estate planning.

Having a will is not just about dividing property; it is about clarity, security, and making things easier for the people you love. A properly prepared will ensures your wishes are respected, avoids unnecessary stress for your family, and even allows you to provide for dependents such as children and even pets.

Without a will, default provincial rules decide who inherits your estate, and those rules may not reflect your wishes or your family’s needs.

When Should You Make or Update a Will?

The truth is, every adult should have a will, but there are moments in life when it becomes especially important. Marriage, separation or divorce, welcoming a new child or grandchild, getting a pet, purchasing a home, starting a business, or even a move to a new province are all times when your will should be prepared or updated.

Life changes quickly, and your estate plan should change with it. A will gives you the chance to appoint the right executor, choose guardians for children (and caretakers for beloved pets), and make sure your assets are distributed in the way you intend.

Make a Will Week is the perfect reminder to stop putting it off and take this important step. If you are ready to create your first will or review an existing one, our team at Ambleside Law is here to guide you through the process with clarity and care.

If now is the time to create or update your will, contact Shahrzad Pakravan to understand your next steps.
