Brian was born and raised in Penticton, BC, in a family that seems drawn to the practice of law. His father was a respected lawyer and then a judge in the Supreme Court of British Columbia, his brother is a lawyer in Penticton and his uncle practised in a firm in downtown Seattle. In the years before the start of his legal career, Brian spent several summers working for Parks Canada in Banff National Park. He also spent years landscaping in Calgary and Victoria and one memorable summer commercial fishing off the West Coast of BC. Prior to law Brian understood the value of hard work, and he counted among his friends the people who did the hard work in our community.
In August of 1997, Brian left his Victoria landscaping job and started his first year of law school at Robson Hall at the University of Manitoba. It was a great opportunity, and one he embraced with relish and determination, winning prizes for the top marks in his Torts and Criminal Law classes, as well as the award for having the Third Highest Standing (grades) out of the first year law class. Brian transferred to the University of Victoria for the remainder of law school and, while there, he was awarded the Arvay Finlay Shield for his team’s moot court victory in the UVic-UBC Appellate Moot Court Competition.
During his articles, Brian joined a leading downtown brain injury firm and worked on some of the largest injury cases in British Columbia History. He has argued cases before judges and juries, and appeared in the Supreme Court of British Columbia, the Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Canada. Recently, Brian was happy to be invited to join the team at Ambleside Law LLP on the North Shore, his home turf.
Over the last 20 years, Brian has established a strong track record of taking on some of the most difficult and challenging files and bringing them to a happy and successful resolution. He has the ability to take on files that other lawyers have passed on, many of them with unusual or quirky facts and very serious injuries. Brian has the knack of finding the right angle to prove these tough cases and bring them to a successful conclusion.
